For Charlotte, 1890s London is filled with the intellectual stimulation of university classes, the freedom of bicycling, and the tantalizing taste of magic offered by an occult society. But does true magic lie hidden within a social hierarchy and a book of Egyptian rituals, or might it be closer than Charlotte believes?

"When Mastered, a Graceful Accomplishment" is a 3,500 word short story. It was originally published in the 2023 anthology Bicycles & Broomsticks: Fantastical Feminist Stories about Witches on Bikes, edited by Elly Blue.
